A leading self-assembly sofa specialist is sitting pretty after celebrating 15 years of business success.
Nabru self-assembly sofas based in Uxbridge launched in 2003 and employs 50 staff at its Salisbury Road showroom.
Over the past 15 years, Nabru has successfully delivered its sofas to every conceivable difficult to access location including boats, lofts, cellars, caravans and up spiral staircases. However, the sofas aren’t exclusively for difficult to access locations, the unique modular design means that a tailor made affordable sofa can be purchased to suit a customer’s personal taste and style perfectly.
Nabru was the brainchild of businessman and entrepreneur Iain Cowsill, who came up with the idea for a self- assembly sofa based on his negative furniture experiences whilst living in London.
All of its sofas, corner sofas and L shaped sofas are manufactured in the UK at Nabru headquarters, by a team of experienced craftsmen and women, including Santa Chavda who is head of the sewing division and has been at Nabru with Iain since day one.
Iain said: “I always wanted to establish my own business and when I was living in London was incredibly frustrated with just how difficult it was to get a big sofa that I liked delivered to my flat. It just wasn’t practical and I could never get the sofa I liked and from this frustration the concept of Nabru was created. I recognised that this was a widespread problem faced by thousands of home owners especially in London so the business I created was for bespoke, self-assembly sofas designed to fit into customers’ living space, whatever the access restrictions and without the need for tools, bolts or screws.”
15 years on and Nabru has sold over 150,000 of its self-assembly and ‘design your own’ sofas. The biggest volume sale was a multiple sofa order from one customer for around £40,000 and the most expensive single sofa created was a huge U shaped sofa measuring 5 meters by 5 meters by 5 meters and costing £2,500.
Over the years, the best-selling sofa has been the Lear 2 Seat Sofa, which encompasses all the different types of designs the customers have come up with themselves.
