Washing Sofa Covers

2018-09-11T13:34:18+00:00

There’s nothing worse than the first stain on a new sofa. Whether it is red wine, sticky fingerprints, or muddy paws, it is an agonising but inevitable moment. Luckily, we have designed our sofas with this problem in mind and have the following advice for dealing with your first, second, or third spill…

How do I clean an initial mark?

When the accident first takes place, it’s best to act fast but not to over-react. While it is tempting to go full steam ahead with powerful cleaning products, most stains and marks can be taken out with a damp cloth and careful cleaning. For more persistent stains, there are a wealth of cleaning products available that can be used. However, make sure that you fully follow the instructions and carry out a road test for the product on one area of the couch to make sure no additional damage will be caused. It’s also worth remembering that there are a number of preventative spray products that can be used to build a protective layer on your piece of furniture that will help guard against stains in future or make it easier to maintain.

What happens if I can’t scrub it out?

If you’re still having issues with a heavy stain you can take advantage of Nabru’s easily washable design. Every one of our sofas has a loose and removable cover that can be taken off and cleaned on a low-heat delicate wash and left out to dry in the open air. This will help aerate the fabric and deal with most stubborn stains.

We would like to note however that regular or heavy washing will potentially affect the fabric retardant that is part of the cover. Normally, clients wash their sofa covers once or twice a year, but if you are washing them more frequently, you should consider picking up retardant spray online or from local stores.

What happens if it’s there to stay?

If washing and drying your cover does not get rid of the mark, there’s no need to worry. Irreparable stains can simply be removed and replaced. If you need to repair any part of your sofa, you can call 0800 042 0266 or email us directly at service@nabru.co.uk. If you can provide details of your initial order with us and the issues you’ve had/items you need replaced, we can provide you with a free quote and a link that will automatically add them to your online basket. This will keep the same colour-scheme and build of your original sofa and let you replace the damaged original cover with a new one.
