Can You Use A Sofa Bed For Permanent Sleeping?

2021-08-06T14:06:11+00:00

A sofa bed is a well-known space-saving solution and a great way to adapt your home to accommodate guests and those unexpected, last-minute changes to arrangements. But sofabeds are not commonly associated with a need to permanently sleep on them, and people still have a perception that sofabeds are a good example of something trying to do two jobs well but doing one or both rather badly.

That is no longer the case, and we are a long way on from a sofabed being something of an embarrassment and a flimsy-looking thing that won’t help your mate’s hangover when he wakes up in the morning, or won’t curry much favour when you’re trying to impress the soon-to-be mother-in-law.

Nabru’s range of everyday sofabeds feature an easy open action that glides out in one simple movement and you don’t have to remove the backs and the seats before opening the sofabed as these can remain fixed to the frame and are tucked away beneath it when the sofa bed is open. The sofabed is comprised of a 12cm sprung mattress which rests on a sprung and wood slat base so it really is very comfortable and you could sleep on it every night.

Using a sofabed permanently should hold no fears

It is often the case that we are stuck in what was supposed to be a temporary arrangement but has become a permanent one. Or we are having to downsize, or family arrangements mean an element of compromise is required. But however you have ended up in the scenario where you need a sofabed for permanent sleeping, it should really hold no fears.

Like a lot of things we encounter in life, as years have passed designs, materials and production techniques have improved. And that is certainly the case with sofabeds. The quality of materials used have improved the comfort of both the sofa and the bed, and have also ensured that worries over damage or long term deterioration in comfort can be banished.

At Nabru we can offer three types of sofabed; a generous single (which usually comes as part of an armchair or a two-seater sofabed), a small double (which usually comes as a two-seater or part of a corner sofabed) and a large double (which can be part of a three or more seater or a corner sofabed). The large double measures 140cm across the width of the mattress, offering plenty of room for a good night’s sleep.

Sofa mattresses made for long term comfort

All our sofa mattresses are made from PU foam and are 6cm thick, so there is no deterioration in quality even if it is used everyday. The easy mechanism means you can make the bed up and transform the room in less than a minute, and the quality of the design, and the fact the sofabed mechanism sits in the base of the sofa, means it won’t get damaged by repeated use.

Today’s standards of design and production mean that items that boast dual functionality can now boast a supreme performance in both, and that certainly fits the bill for Nabru sofabeds, which adopt the same production techniques used for our sofas that are designed for years of repeated use. As a sofa, you would never know that you are sitting on a sofabed, and as a bed, you would never know that the mattress and frame that offers you night after night of blissful slumber leads a double life as part of a regular sofa.

So yes, a Nabru sofabed is perfectly suitable for permanent sleeping, due to superior design, which specialises in supreme, long term comfort for both sleeping and sitting. No longer are you looking at a sofabed as a stop-gap solution that has ‘bad back’ written all over it, you are looking at a wealth of choice, in terms of size, fabric, colour and orientation and years and years of unrivalled comfort.
