A common problem with urban living is stairs that are too narrow for a sofa to go up them and into your flat; this is also a feature of living in new builds where it is not uncommon to have an upstairs lounge and very narrow stairs for the sofa to go up.
Obviously there are many different solutions to the problem of getting a sofa through the door and up the stairs. One solution is to take the window out and hoist the sofa up through the window, another is to dismantle the new sofa that you’ve just purchased (We can see that look of horror creeping across your face…) and take it up your staircase piece by piece and then reassemble it when you get it into the room of your choice.
